Kirby Smart talks Georgia QB status

ATLANTA – Georgia football coach Carson Beck suffered an upper extremity injury in the SEC championship game against Texas on Saturday, according to coach Kirby Smart.

The injury occurred at the end of the first half of the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the Bulldogs beat Texas 22-19 in overtime. More than half a dozen staff members rushed him onto the field after the game as he lay on his side on the turf.

The play resulted in a sack by Texas’ Trey Moore. Beck fumbled the ball and it spun around violently until it landed to offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild.
