Kentucky doesn’t seem to belong on the same level as Gonzaga at halftime

That’s embarrassing, there’s no other way to say it. Once again, Kentucky is blocking every shot while playing patty-cake on defense, and it doesn’t look like it even belongs on the same floor as No. 7 Gonzaga. The Bulldogs overwhelmed the Wildcats, who now led 50-34 at halftime while shooting 54.3 percent from the field (19-35) and 90 percent at the line (9-10).

Kentucky, which is shooting just 33.3 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from three, is led by Brandon Garrison with eight points, followed by Andrew Carr and Kerr Kriisa with six points each. Otega Oweh added four, while Jaxson Robinson and Ansley Almonor have three, Koby Brea two.

As for Gonzaga, Graham Ike is on fire defensively with 18 points (6-9 FG) and eight rebounds, followed by Khalif Battle with nine and Ryan Nembhard with eight points and seven (!!!) assists.

UK ended the half without a field goal in the final five minutes (0-7 FG), while again falling short on aggregate (25-16), giving up 24 points in the game compared to just 14 for the Cats.

Simply a disaster of an all-around performance in Seattle – and it’s not just because Lamont Butler is out with an ankle injury. This team just isn’t very good right now.

We’ll see if they can turn things around in the final 20 minutes, but it doesn’t look very good.
