Flyers coach shoots at Bruins and referee after Boston OT win

BOSTON – John Tortorella didn’t wait to be asked.

After the Bruins beat his Flyers in overtime, the Philadelphia coach didn’t like the officiating and what he felt the Bruins did to influence it Saturday at TD Garden.

Before asking a question in the follow-up, he addressed the complaint directly.

“Yes, let me start. One thing I teach my team is not to dive,” he said. “Maybe I should teach them, the way this went, the way this is going, maybe I should start teaching them how to dive.”

The Flyers had eight penalties in the game, while the Bruins had four. Each team had a power play goal.

Tortorella was visibly upset that Garnet Hathway was brought down midway through the third period when he thought Mason Lohrei had been buried by minimal contact.

The Bruins got another power play late in the period when Sean Couturier was whistled for tripping David Pastrnak with 1:57 left in regulation, and the score was 2-2.

“It’s one of the things we talk about the most. We have to play an honest game. There is no cheating, no embarrassing referees,” Tortorella said. “What happened here tonight was just ridiculous. I’m proud of the way our team played. Have we screwed anyone else? Yes, but other people had a bit to do with it too.”
