NEW DELHI: Top quality doughs Georgia Full And Ellyse Perry scored stunning goals as Australia delivered a dominant batting performance to beat India by 122 runs in the second women’s ODI in Brisbane on Sunday.
The young Voll hit an 87-ball 101 – her first century in only her second ODI – while veteran Perry hit a superb 75-ball 105, peppered with six sixes and seven fours, as Australia posted a massive 371 for 8 scored after deciding to hit.
In response, India conceded 249 in 45 overs and Australia took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Phoebe Litchfield and Beth Mooney also contributed significantly to Australia’s impressive total – their third highest score in women’s ODIs. While Litchfield posted a 63-ball score of 60, Mooney added 56 off just 44 as India’s bowling attack struggled to contain the Australian batters.
Despite a half-century from Richa Ghosh (52) and a promising 46 not out from debutant Minnu Mani, India were bowled out for 249.
Annabel Sutherland played the ball for Australia and took four wickets for 38 runs. Their performance proved crucial in limiting the Indians’ chase.
Australia’s innings began with a lively 130-run opening partnership between Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield. The stand ended in the 20th over when Litchfield was dismissed by Saima Thakor.
Voll and Perry then combined for a 92-run partnership for the second wicket. Voll’s innings ended with 101 off 87 balls, an impressive knock of 12 fours that was witnessed by her friends and family.
Perry and Mooney then continued the attack, adding 98 runs in just 69 balls to take Australia to over 300.
Perry’s dismissal for 105, bowled by Deepti Sharma, sparked a mini-collapse as Australia lost six wickets for 30 runs.
Tahlia McGrath’s unbeaten 20 from 12 balls ensured Australia finished with an impressive total of 371.
For India, Saima Thakor’s 3-62 was the only notable bowling performance. Priya Mishra had a memorable outing, conceding 88 runs in her 10 overs, the most expensive figures by an Indian bowler in women’s ODIs.
India’s reply saw them surpass their total mark of 100 from the series opener. Several batters including Richa Ghosh, Minnu Mani, Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur started. However, neither could replicate the sustained aggression of Voll and Perry.
Smriti Mandhana was released early by Kim Garth. Harleen Deol also had a favorable spell shortly after the power play.
Richa Ghosh and Harmanpreet Kaur tried to rebuild the innings with a 66-run partnership. Ghosh’s dismissal, bowled by Alana King, broke the partnership.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues added 37 runs before the Indian captain was caught out by Megan Schutt’s bowling. Rodrigues contributed 43 runs off 39 balls before being dismissed by Sophie Molineux.
Minnu Mani’s unbeaten 46, which he hit with the tailenders, helped India cross 200. However, they fell well short of the target and were bowled out for 249 in 44.5 overs.
The third and final ODI will be played on December 11 at the WACA Ground in Perth.
Brief scores: Australia 371/8 (Ellyse Perry 105, Georgia full 101; Saima Thakor 3-62) beat India 249 (Richa Ghosh 54, Minnu Mani 46 not out; Annabel Sutherland 4-39) by 122 runs
