Barry Keoghan deactivates Instagram, says his son is being harassed

After leaving Instagram, Barry Keoghan released a statement saying his family was being harassed.

The Salt burn The star deactivated his account on Friday after it was reported that he had ended his years-long, on-again, off-again romance with Sabrina Carpenter, and on Saturday he released a lengthy statement to X explaining why he suspended the account .

Keoghan continued that the criticism he received took his attention away from his loved ones. “I deactivated my account because I can no longer allow this stuff to distract me from my family and work,” he wrote. “No one should ever have to read the messages I received. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting comments about my looks, my character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine. I’m dragging out my character and everything else. “I’ve worked extremely hard for this and I stand by it.”

The Banshees of Inisherin The actor described the kind of news — and real-life threats — he’s been facing lately. “I talked about being a heroine baby and how I grew up and also brought my lovely mother into it,” Keoghan wrote. “Knocking on my grandma’s door. Sitting outside my little boy’s house and intimidating her. That crosses a line.”

Keoghan said he continues to try to improve for the sake of his son. “Every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest, strongest person possible for this boy,” he wrote. “I want to give him the opportunity to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his father, to have complete trust in me and to know that I will support him no matter what.”

Next he will reunite with his Dunkirk Co-star Cillian Murphy in Netflix Peaky Blinders film, and he will also star in Trey Edward Shults’ film. Hurry up tomorrow.

Rumors have also been circulating that Keoghan will play Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes’ four-film Beatles biopic project. Neither Keoghan nor anyone officially associated with the project have confirmed it, but the real Starr seems to believe it’s true. “Well, I think it’s great,” the drummer said Entertainment tonight. “I think he’s taking drum lessons somewhere, and I hope not too many.”
