Steelers inactive in Week 14 against Browns

Also on the Steelers’ inactive list today is receiver George Pickens, who was on the injury report late this week with a hamstring injury.

For the Steelers’ defense, they’re bringing back outside linebacker Alex Highsmith.

Highsmith missed the last three games with an ankle injury but will be ready for today’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

“Alex Highsmith is a playmaker,” said fellow fullback TJ Watt. “You think of Splash when you think of him. Big games play in big moments. To have the depth that we have at outside linebacker, I feel very comfortable with all four of us healthy, five if you count (Jeremiah) Moon too.

“It allows us to take a breather. You don’t have to play more than 90 percent of the snaps like we felt this season. So I can always take a breather and (Nick) Herbig or Preston (Smith) go in there and get some good representatives, that’s beneficial for all of us.”

If Watt gets a breather because everyone is healthy, that can only benefit the defense.

“That’s a lot. It really is,” Watt said of the workload. “You watch film and evaluate yourself, especially after the game on Thursday when you have a weekend to really break down and evaluate yourself and just really look at the percentages and plays and snaps that I took per game games, and that is also the case.” a lot.

“Last week I tried to take it back a little bit and we’ll find a good middle ground. So when I’m out there, I give 100 percent all the time and I don’t rest on the field.”

And just the thought of this group being healthy makes coach Mike Tomlin feel good.

“It’s pretty exciting, isn’t it?” Tomlin said. “Let’s see where the paths lead.

“You can’t run out of Rushmen. I’m so excited about the potential of getting Alex Highsmith back and the development of (Nick) Herbig, the acclimation of Preston (Smith). “You especially can’t run out of Rushmen.” in December.

“It’s exciting. Make no mistake, there is enough work for everyone involved and we look forward to sorting that out as we prepare.”

While Highsmith’s return makes Tomlin happy, Browns offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, on the other hand, has something to be aware of.

“Obviously he’s one of the top rushers in this league,” Dorsey said. “It creates pressure. He’s a high stakes guy. He can win with speed, with power and with the depth they have at the position, and then of course (TJ) Watt on the other side is a challenging combination.”
