Kyler Murray’s interceptions continue to trouble the Cardinals

GLENDALE – Quarterback Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals offense looked like they had reached a major turning point right from the start against the Seattle Seahawks.

Her 41-yard touchdown on the opening drive to wide receiver Michael Wilson generated more excitement (and points) on the Arizona sideline than any of Seattle’s Week 12 games.

Then came the problems that plagued Murray and Arizona during their two-game losing streak.

Picks and penalties.

Unlike Arizona’s six-play, 70-yard scoring drive, Murray and the Cardinals were anything but sharp.

The offensive line — particularly Hjalte Froholdt and Paris Johnson Jr. — was again marred by two penalties, but it was Murray’s mistakes that were much worse.

Arizona’s franchise signal-caller was responsible for two interceptions in six plays.

Both crossed the finish line as second and long. Both were equally bad.

With the two early interceptions, Murray is now up to five picks in the last three games. It is also the first time in the quarterback’s career that he has thrown two picks in consecutive games.

Prior to this recent turnover streak, Murray had thrown just three interceptions in 10 games. He was one of the best at keeping the ball out of the other team’s gloves.

Recently, however, that is far from the case.

Losing the ball doesn’t help the defense at all either.

Thanks to the advantageous field position provided by Murray’s interceptions, the Seahawks wasted little time finding the end zone with back-to-back attempts.

Arizona trails Seattle 24-10 in the second quarter.
