The Washington Wizards can achieve two streaks against the Los Angeles Clippers

History suggests that the Washington Wizards will not beat the Los Angeles Clippers tonight when the two teams face off at Capital One Arena.

The Wizards, who have the league’s worst record at 2-14, lost their first 12 games in November. The losing streak has become one of the worst in franchise history and teams are beginning to fall further and further down the Eastern Conference standings.

The 12-game losing streak is the fifth-longest in franchise history and the third-longest since the Wizards nickname was introduced in 1997.

The longest losing streak in franchise history is 16 games, one of which was in the 2009-10 season and the other last year from January 31 to March 8.

The team is also trying to end a losing streak that has spanned three seasons. The Wizards have lost 20 straight games with zero days of rest, similar to tonight’s loss to the Clippers after playing the Chicago Bulls at home last night.

The last time the Wizards won on the second night in a row was in February 2023, when the team was led by players like Kristaps Porzingis and Bradley Beal. They have lost their last five such games this season, along with 13 games in the 2023-24 season. The team also lost its first two games this year without a break.

So the odds are stacked against the Wizards hosting the Clippers, but records are meant to be broken and this streak will end at some point. The question is whether the game will take place tonight or whether it will be postponed a little later.

The opener between the Clippers and Wizards is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
