Jay-Z Accused of New Civil Rape Lawsuit: Report

According to a report from NBC News, Jay-Z has been included in a civil lawsuit accusing both the rapper and Sean “Diddy” Combs of allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000.

The lawsuit by Texas resident Tony Buzbee was originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York and listed Combs as a defendant. NBC News reports that it was refiled on Sunday to include Jay-Z, whose full name is Shawn Carter.

The accuser is identified in the lawsuit as Jane Doe. The attack allegedly occurred after she was driven to a party following the MTV Video Music Awards.

Deadline has reached out to Jay-Z’s representatives and will update this post if they respond.

In October, Buzbee vowed to file multiple lawsuits on behalf of alleged Combs victims. This is in addition to the nearly 20 other civil lawsuits and sex trafficking criminal charges and others filed by the government that Combs is fighting.

Of the half-dozen plaintiffs for Combs’ lawsuits filed between 1995 and 2021 in federal court in New York under the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, there was a 19-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy.

Combs has repeatedly denied all allegations made against him. On November 27, a federal judge denied his latest request to be released from New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center ahead of his trial in 2025.

The 55-year-old Combs was arrested in mid-September on racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to participate in prostitution charges, which could result in a life sentence if found guilty. The 55-year-old Combs’ trial is scheduled to begin May 5, 2025. After Combs received a $50 million bond and other guarantees, two previous bail efforts failed in September.
