Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” ratings could prove the series is the next “Yellowstone.”

It looks like oil is applied Taylor Sheridan has found gold, this time with Countrymanhis latest drama series set in the wild boomtowns of West Texas. The Yellowstone The creator’s latest series launched with staggering numbers, attracting 14.6 million viewers worldwide across platforms in the first seven days. These incredible numbers not only make it the biggest global premiere week ever for a Paramount+ original, but also highlight Sheridan’s unparalleled talent for creating TV gold in the strangest of places.

Adapted from the podcast series Boomtownthe series – which plays the main role Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Demi MooreAnd Jon Hamm – follows Thornton’s Tommy Norris, a “crisis manager” for an oil company owned by Monty Miller of Hamm, who at the start of the series is in the middle of an investigation while also dealing with his outrageous ex-wife (Larter) who arrives in town his promiscuous 17-year-old daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) and his son Cooper (Jacob Löfland), who would like to train as an oil worker and would like to start at the bottom as a “worm”.

The second week brought even more good news: domestic viewership increased 60% compared to premiere day. Executive produced by Sheridan and a powerhouse team including David C Glasser, Ron BurkleAnd Christian Wallace, Countryman continues Sheridan’s almost nonsensical winning streak for Paramount+, which includes more than just Yellowstone but there are two spin-offs, 1883, 1923 as well as Law Enforcement Officer: Bass Reeves, Mayor of Kingstown And Tulsa Kingwhich was recently renewed for a second and third season with the main cast Sylvester Stallone.

Is “Landman” good?

Critics’ response to the series has been good so far, even better than the first season of Yellowstone. In 2018 Yellowstone Debuted to mediocre reviews, scoring a modest 58% on Rotten Tomatoes, but went on to receive critical acclaim. On the other hand, Countryman has hit the ground running with a 74% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is obviously a much better score. And although it has not yet reached its peak YellowstoneThe strong start in recent seasons bodes well for the future should it be renewed for more seasons. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it would be a huge surprise if we didn’t see more of Tommy Norris and his hugely dysfunctional family in the future.

Countryman premiered on Paramount+ on November 17, with new episodes streaming weekly on Sundays. Stay tuned for more.
