“Love Actually” Star Finds Iconic Scene “Creepy”

In fact, love may not be the best word to describe one of Keira Knightley’s most famous movie scenes.

The famous actress was just 17 years old when she joined the star-studded cast of Love Actually, a 2003 romantic Christmas film that has since become synonymous with the holiday season.

Despite the popularity, Knightley admits she doesn’t remember much of her time on set.

“Most of my films I have either never seen or only seen once. So there’s nothing wrong with ‘Love Actually.'” “It’s nice because it didn’t do as well as everyone thought it would when it came out,” she told the Los Angeles Times.

The film, which connects its characters through a twist on love stories, features a newly married couple, Juliet and Peter, played by Knightley and Chiwetel Ejiofor, respectively. Their wedding is filmed by Peter’s best man Mark (played by Andrew Lincoln), who is secretly in love with Julia.

In a now-iconic scene, Mark arrives at Julia’s door with cue cards in tow to confess his love for her. Mark stands in front of the couple’s front door and plays “Silent Night” from a boombox without his friend Peter knowing. He has Juliet read the cards and tells her about his true feelings.

The scene has not aged well, and many recognize a bizarre undertone of inappropriateness that Knightley remembers feeling on set and expressing to director Richard Curtis.

“The slightly stalkerish aspect of it – me Do Remember that,” Knightley reflected on the filming. “I remember Richard, who’s now a very dear friend, doing the scene and him saying, ‘No, you look at (Lincoln) like he’s scary,'” and I say, “But it.” Is pretty scary.’”

“And then I had to do it again to fix my face so he wouldn’t look scary,” she added.
