The Netflix calendar 2024 is packed with fun Christmas movies from stars like Lacey Chabert, Christina Milian and Chad Michael Murray, but it’s not really the holidays until Lindsay Lohan comes along Christmas film programRight? Our little secret is the latest from LiLo’s partnership with one of the best streaming servicesand critics got to see the project ahead of its release on November 27th. Let’s see what holiday treats await us.

Our little secret will see Lindsay Lohan’s Avery meet her ex as she goes home with her boyfriend to spend their first Christmas together. The former couple decides to keep their story a secret from the other revelers. An impressive ensemble cast lends its talents, including Ian Harding, Kristin Chenoweth, Dan Bucatinsky, Judy Reyes and Lohan Mean Girls Co-star Tim Meadows, but unfortunately Variety’s Owen Gleiberman says that’s not enough to stop this film from becoming a complete scarefest. The critic writes:

I’m perfectly capable of enjoying a cheesy Lindsay Lohan romantic comedy on Netflix. Last year I liked Irish Wish and loved it. (I stand by that affection.) But Our Little Secret, Lohan’s new holiday rom-com, is crumpled tinsel of a different kind. I’m tempted to say it’s every bit the Netflix standard. I winced, I grimaced, I said “No!…” I forced myself to stop paying attention to how much time was left.

Johnny Oleksinski of the NY Post disagrees with the reviewer above, but only as far as how much they liked it Irish wish. Oleksinski was shocked because he said Lindsay Lohan’s two previous Netflix rom-coms were “cruel.” Our little secret is just “bad”. Passed hard, he says and rates the film 1.5 out of 4 stars:

Even (Kristin Chenoweth) cannot logically explain the tonal strangeness of this film directed by Stephen Herek. Although a quick synopsis would suggest that Our Little Secret is the simplest and most domestic of Lohan’s terror trilogy, the devices leading to its conclusion are anything but a Hallmark happy: A grandmother’s dementia and infidelity end one long-term marriage. There was no laughter or tears at any of these downers – just shudders.

Emma Kiely from Collider gives the film 4 out of 10 and states that the film fails to deliver on its playful plot because the chemistry between Lindsay Lohan and Ian Harding is lacking and there is no attempt to make the characters talk like real people. Kiely says:

“Our Little Secret” fails as both a romance novel and a film with dialogue that resembles real life. Still, it does a great job of showcasing the comedic timing of Lindsay Lohan and the natural charisma of Ian Harding. A film in which the pair play siblings trying to survive the shenanigans of a holiday family reunion would certainly make even more effective use of their skills. Compared to Lohan’s first Netflix romance, where the chemistry between her and Chord Overstreet is palpable, “Our Little Secret” won’t give you the swoon-worthy romantic appeal we all crave this time of year. Come for Lohan, stay for Harding, and watch Kristin Chenoweth to the end – ignoring some of the most robotic dialogue your ears have ever heard.

Archika Khurana of Times of India says the lead actors do their best to navigate the difficult material, but the plot is too contrived for any of them to shine. Khurana gives 2.5 out of 5 stars and writes:

Ultimately, “Our Little Secret” is a holiday film that misses the mark. It’s neither funny enough to be truly entertaining nor does it offer enough heart to satisfy romantic comedy fans. Instead, it’s a lukewarm, campy affair – a mix of holiday clichés and forced humor, making it more of a guilty pleasure than a festive feel-good favorite.

However, Sarah Musnicky from But Why Tho doesn’t seem to feel any guilt about their love Our little secret. If you only want to watch one of Netflix’s Christmas offerings, skip it Christina Milian’s perfect holiday filmjust say no to Hot frostyis “naughty, wanton desire” and dance right past Chad Michael Murray’s “spicy but funny” flick. Lindsay Lohan is where the holidays are. Musnicky gives Our little secret an 8 out of 10 and says:

The characters and the nuances of the story aren’t what makes Our Little Secret all that great. The connection between Lindsay Lohan’s Avery and Ian Harding’s Logan feels natural and lived-in, easily conveying the fact that they have been friends all their lives. The dialogue reinforces this even further, as their line deliveries to each other come quickly and quickly once they are together.

Those who have invested time in the somewhat confusing Netflix Christmas universe or Lindsay Lohan’s light-hearted posts about the streamer (guilty on both counts) are unlikely to be deterred by the overall negative reviews Our little secretso light that Netflix subscriptionbecause the film is now available for streaming.
