Jay-Z, the rapper whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been accused of allegedly drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl with Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000, according to a filing Sunday in federal court Civil lawsuit emerges.

The anonymous plaintiff, identified as “Jane Doe,” said the attack occurred at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.

According to the prosecutor, an unknown female celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns raping the minor, and no one at the party attempted to stop the attack.

NBC News was the first to report the allegations against Carter. The lawsuit was originally filed in October in the District Court for the Southern District of New York, naming Combs as a defendant. It was refiled Sunday to include Carter.

Tony Buzbee, the Texas attorney who filed the lawsuit, has filed multiple lawsuits against Combs in recent months, accusing the hip-hop mogul of physical violence and rape. Buzbee’s lawsuit accused Carter of filing his own lawsuit against Buzbee, which Buzbee described as “frivolous.”

None of the accusers were named, and Jay-Z is the first high-profile defendant Buzbee has listed, along with Combs.

In an emailed statement to NPR, Carter said he was the target of an extortion attempt aimed at extorting settlement money.

“These allegations are so heinous that I am asking you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil complaint!!” he said. “Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked up, don’t you think? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

“My only sorrow is for my family,” Carter added. “My wife and I will have to sit down with our children, one of whom is at the age when their friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain people’s cruelty and greed. I grieve yet another loss of innocence.”

Representatives for Combs, who has denied all allegations against him, declined to comment on the record.

In September, Combs was charged with federal crimes including sex trafficking and racketeering. He is currently awaiting trial on those charges on May 5 while behind bars at a Brooklyn detention center. He was refused bail for the third time last month.
