Who’s in and who’s out for Week 14?

Week 14 of the NFL season is officially here and Sunday night features one of the best matchups of the week. The Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium as both AFC West clubs look for a win to round out the weekend tournament.

As with any team, none of these squads are 100% healthy at this late point in the season. Kansas City started the year banged up and has dealt with a variety of injuries since then, and Los Angeles has several players on the injured reserve list or trying to play through ailments. Both sides will need all the help they can get from available forces to get the job done on Sunday.

With that in mind, here’s who is inactive for Kansas City and Los Angeles in the Week 14 game.

The biggest personnel news for the Chiefs is the debut of left tackle DJ Humphries. The veteran lineman, who signed in late November, will start in Week 14, taking the spot previously held by Wanya Morris. Head coach Andy Reid was reluctant to call Humphries his outright starter as the week progressed, but as time went on it became more and more obvious that the former Pro Bowler would appear in a game for the first time since last December. He is joined by Jawaan Taylor on the right after Taylor sustained a knee injury throughout the week but was not named for matchday.

Elsewhere, there was some major injury news for Kansas City late in the week. Wide receiver Mecole Hardman suffered a knee injury before Friday’s practice that caused him to miss work and was subsequently considered questionable for Week 14. However, on Saturday, the Chiefs placed Hardman on the injured reserve list. The earliest he can return is the Week 18 regular-season finale against the Denver Broncos. In a corresponding step, Nikko Remigio was included from the training squad in the active squad. Linebacker Swayze Bozeman and tight end Baylor Cupp were simultaneously called up from the practice squad.

Elsewhere, it’s mostly business as usual on Sunday, albeit with a surprise. Players like Hanson, Driskell, Tuipulotu and Edwards-Helaire regularly appear on the weekly inactive list. Kicker Spencer Shrader’s name is not listed because he has been placed on IR; Matthew Wright will take his place again.

The shock is that Uche, who was traded during the season, is inactive this weekend. He has only played 37 snaps since being traded from the New England Patriots, and he won’t be able to increase that number in Week 14. Suamataia on the bench isn’t entirely unexpected given Humphries’ debut.

Easily the most notable absence from Los Angeles on Sunday will be McConkey, who made a big impression despite being a rookie. In his first 12 games, the second-round pick caught 58 passes for 815 yards and four touchdowns. He suffered knee and shoulder injuries in Week 14 and was listed as questionable, but the Chargers’ game-time decision was to hold him back. Elsewhere, Perryman (groin) was listed as questionable and Jefferson (hamstring) was listed as questionable. Neither will play against the Chiefs on Sunday night.
