“Washington Wizards take a step back after loss to Memphis Grizzlies”

The Washington Wizards are back on the losing end after a 140-112 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night at Capital One Arena.

Just 24 hours after defeating the Denver Nuggets and ending a 16-game losing streak, the Wizards returned to losing streak thanks to a squad that looked a step too slow all night.

It took a lot of energy to beat the Nuggets, and that allowed the Grizzlies to gain an early advantage. They quickly built a double-digit lead against the Wizards and cruised to victory, gaining a lead of as many as 35 points.

The Wizards were led in scoring by Jonas Valanciunas, who scored 20 points, and Marvin Bagley III, who also had 20 points off the bench. Bilal Coulibaly came out of his shooting slump with 17 points, while Justin Champagnie and Jared Butler added 14 points each.

For the Grizzlies, Jaren Jackson Jr. posted the highest score of the game, while six of his teammates scored in double figures.

The Wizards will get a chance to rest and recharge this week before heading back out to play the NBA-best Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
