The New York Lottery Powerball winner hits $256 million with his Queens lottery ticket

A Powerball player from Queens is shaking money after winning the multi-million dollar Powerball jackpot last night.

The lucky winner purchased his ticket – worth an impressive $256,000,000 – at the Hua Lian Supermarket in Flushing at 25-03 Parsons Blvd.

That same evening, another Powerball player from Queens drew a ticket for the third-place Powerball prize.

The player took home a cool $50,000 and bought his ticket at Stop & Go Convivence at 42-39 Main St., also Flushing.

The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of one to 69. The Powerball number is drawn from a separate field from one to 26. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order to match the red Powerball number.

Powerball tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week. The deadline for purchasing tickets is 10:00 p.m. on draw nights.

Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m. and the New York Lottery urges players to purchase tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.
