Bucs 28, Raiders 13 – Bucs Defeat the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14

The Buccaneers defeated the Raiders 28-13 at Raymond James Stadium to improve to 7-6. Tampa Bay totaled 420 yards of offense and Baker Mayfield completed 18 of 29 pass attempts for 295 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Cade Otton led the team with 70 yards on three receptions, including a 44-yarder that set up Jalen McMillan’s second touchdown. The Bucs turned the ball over three times in the first half, keeping Las Vegas in the game.

The Buccaneers capped an 85-yard first drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield to Jalen McMillan. It was McMillan’s second touchdown of 2024 and his first since Week 1. A fourth-down conversion by Rachaad White and a yard-after-catch by Bucky Irving brought the Bucs to the 15-yard line. Tampa Bay marched down the field on their second possession, culminating in a five-yard touchdown by Rachaad White. Cade Otton sat in the zone and Mayfield delivered a dart to the tight end that gained 20 yards. Two consecutive plays of 13 and 12 yards for White tied the game and made the lead 14-0. With this score, White became the owner of the second-most touchdowns by a running back in franchise history, behind only Mike Alstott. At the end of the first quarter, the Bucs had a net yardage advantage of 154-14 and a first down advantage of 11-1.

It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Bucs scored again. A 32-yard gain by Mike Evans, including a hurdle for extra yardage, and a 34-yard pickup by Sean Tucker set up White’s three-yard touchdown rush up the middle. With 8:47 left in the fourth, the Bucs took a 21-10 lead after six plays. Less than two minutes into regulation, Mayfield hit McMillan for a 29-yard catch-and-run touchdown to seal the win. With this result, Mayfield tied his career record for touchdown passes (28) in a single season.

Lavonte David ended the Raiders’ first drive with a sack on Aidan O’Connell from third-and-10. Anthony Nelson dropped coverage and David looped inside and was unblocked, forcing a Raiders punt. Early in the second quarter, David recovered an interception by Baker Mayfield at the Tampa Bay 35-yard line following a fumble by O’Connell, marking the 19th fumble recovery of his career. Late in the third quarter, Tykee Smith intercepted O’Connell at the seven-yard line and forced Mayfield and Co. back down the field. Kaevon Merriweather’s interception was overturned in the third quarter and resulted in an incomplete pass that allowed third-and-10. Midway through the fourth quarter, Zyon McCollum’s interception was reversed on review and an incomplete pass to Jakobi Myers was ruled out. Late in the fourth quarter, Christian Izien made a critical tackle on Ameer Abdullah, forcing a 27-yard field goal from Carlson.
