Noida-based YesMadam asks employees if they are stressed, fires over 100 employees after they say yes; The email from the HR department goes viral

YesMadam, a home salon services company, is facing intense criticism online after it reportedly laid off over 100 employees. Allegations have emerged that the company conducted a mental health survey and then terminated workers who reported feeling stressed.

One of the affected employees expressed frustration and said, “What is happening at YesMadam? First you do a sample survey and then fire us overnight because we feel stressed? And not only me, but also 100 other people were laid off.”

A screenshot of an email from YesMadam’s HR manager has gone viral on social media.

According to the email, the Delhi-NCR-based company conducted a survey to measure the stress levels of employees. Based on the findings, the company made a surprising decision to part ways with employees found to be suffering from “great stress.”

“Dear team,

We recently conducted a survey to find out how you feel about stress at work. Many of you expressed your concerns, which we deeply appreciate and respect.

As a company committed to promoting a healthy and supportive work environment, we carefully considered the feedback. To ensure that no one remains stressed in the workplace, we made the difficult decision to separate employees who were experiencing significant stress.

This decision comes into effect immediately and the affected employees will be informed separately about further details.

Thank you for your contributions. Kind regards, HR Manager, YesMadam”

Anushka Dutta, a former UX copywriter at YesMadam, shared a screenshot of the emails employees received from the company’s HR manager. The email detailed the results of a stress survey conducted by the organization.

Business Today could not confirm the authenticity of the viral email screenshot.

The direct tone of the email and the decision to fire stressed employees instead of addressing their problems sparked a lot of criticism online.

One user commented on the viral screenshot saying, “Most Bizarre Layoffs: YesMadam Conducts Workplace Stress Survey. Employees Who Say They’re Stressed Will Be Fired.”

Another user noted: “Recently a startup called YesMadam sent out a survey to team members asking how stressed they are AND? Imagine firing those who voted are under extreme stress.”

Many online critics described the move as counterproductive and lacking compassion.

Shitiz Dogra, Associate Director of Digital Marketing at IndiGo also posted the screenshot on LinkedIn and asked, “Can an organization fire you for stress? Looks like this just happened at a startup – Yes, lady.”
