Colder temperatures heading to Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Sunny skies and an afternoon high of 74 degrees are expected in the Valley today. That’s about 7 degrees above normal in Phoenix this time of year.

A cold front will move toward Arizona during the day. The front is associated with a low-pressure trough moving through Utah and Nevada, leaving Arizona with rain or snow.

Winds are expected to increase in the high country and western Arizona today with gusts of 25 to 45 mph. Behind the front the wind will remain breezy again tomorrow.

Temperatures are also falling behind the cold front. High temperatures in the upper 60s are expected in the valley Tuesday afternoon, slowly rising back to the low 70s Wednesday through Friday.

Wednesday will be the coldest morning this week thanks to clear skies and cooler air moving in behind the cold front. In the Valley, most neighborhoods are in the 30s or low 40s.

A freeze warning has been issued for portions of Pinal County, including Casa Grande and Arizona City, where temperatures will fall near and below freezing.

Looking ahead to next weekend, dry and pleasant weather is expected with afternoon high temperatures in the mid-70s.
