Denzel Washington and other stars react to their nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes

Denzel Washington, Nicole Kidman and Ariana Grande are among the stars who reacted to their nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes.

Washington detailed his experience filming “Gladiator II” – the film that earned him his 11th nomination, the most for any black actor at the Golden Globes – after winning Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in any The film was nominated in the picture category.

“Before I even worked with Sir Ridley Scott, I was a fan of his films and his talent. But then he invited me into his tent (most recently his coliseum from GLADIATOR II) and the entire experience was breathtaking,” Washington said in a statement. “The sheer size of this particular production and the incredible cast of actors and crew he has assembled, not to mention what he has literally built out of ancient Rome, is humbling – it has humbled me every day on set . And to give me Macrinus – to embody, to enjoy, to create – what an incredible honor that is and was.”

This year there are 26 first-time nominees for the Golden Globes, including Adam Brody, Anna Sawai, Ariana Grande, Dakota Fanning, Glen Powell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kathryn Hahn, Pamela Anderson and Zoe Saldaña.

Three actors are also nominated as double actors this year, including Kate Winslet (for “Lee” and “The Regime”), Sebastian Stan (for “The Apprentice” and “A Different Man”) and Selena Gomez (for “Emelia Pérez” and “Only murders in the building”).

Nicole Kidman shared a statement reacting to her nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) for her work in Babygirl.

Ariana Grande shared a reaction to her nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her role in Wicked on her Instagram Story.

“Oh my God, oh my God… I’m overwhelmed and honored to be recognized by the members of the @goldenglobes. I’m crying (of course)… It’s impossible to find my words, but I’m just so deeply grateful for this recognition,” she wrote. “And congratulations to my brilliant, lovely sister @cynthiaerivo and our entire Ozian family on this celebration of our work. “Wicked” has a total of four nominations.

Selena Gomez shared a video on her Instagram Story of the moment she found out she was nominated for her work in Emilia Pérez. She also shared a statement about what this nomination and her nod for Only Murders in the Building means to her.

“I am truly grateful and honored to be nominated for two different projects that mean a lot to me,” she said. “This recognition inspires me and motivates me to work even harder. I couldn’t be prouder of my Emilia Perez and Only Murders family!”

“Only Murders in the Building” is the second most nominated project on television with four nominations. “The Bear” leads the TV nominations with five nominations.

“Emilia Pérez” is the most nominated film of the year with a total of 10 nominations.

Hugh Grant reacted to his nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) for his role in “Heretic” in a statement.

Sofía Vergara reflected in a statement on the transition from the comedy “Modern Family” to her breakthrough dramatic role in “Griselda,” which earned her a Golden Globe nomination this year for best performance by a female actress in a limited series, anthology series or one Series earned a film for television.

Richard Gadd, who created, wrote and starred in “Baby Reindeer,” responded to the series’ three Golden Globes nominations in a statement.

The series was nominated for best limited television series, anthology series or television film, while Gadd and his co-star Jessica Gunning nabbed nominations for their roles.

Adrien Brody said in a statement that he was “so deeply touched” by his Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) for his role in “The Brutalist.”

The 2025 Golden Globes will take place on Sunday, January 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT and will air live on CBS and stream live on Paramount+.
