Yes, Woman Slammed Alleged Email for Firing Stressed Employees, Some Call It a Marketing Stunt – The Week

New Delhi, Dec 9 (PTI) Online beauty services platform YesMadam was thrown into turmoil on Monday after an internal email was allegedly leaked on social media suggesting termination of those employees citing stress on workplace had pointed out, although many described this as a marketing stunt for a possible campaign.
However, an email sent to the company did not elicit a response.
Anushka Dutta, whose LinkedIn profile identifies her as the company’s UX copywriter, said in a post: “What’s happening at YesMadam? First you do a random survey and then fire us overnight because we feel stressed?”
She attached a screenshot showing an email from the company’s human resources representative.
However, netizens were skeptical and speculated about the post’s legitimacy, calling it a publicity stunt.
“If you look at Yes Madam’s marketing trends, it looks like a campaign. The virality of these firing posts provides a good basis for launching “corporate stress relief massage packages” or something like that. Plus, they are a labor-intensive business, cutting hundreds of employees at odds with their continued rapid scaling. Controversial marketing at its best,” wrote one user on X.
A former employee told PTI that everything that was going on seemed to be a marketing stunt.
Another netizen commented strangely on the topic, saying, “Does Madam’s marketing team know that there are 113 days until April 1?”
Noida-headquartered YesMadam secured investments from Peyush Bansal of Lenskart, Vineeta Singh of Sugar, Ritesh Aggarwal of OYO and Aman Gupta of boAt for Shark Tank India.
However, some claimed that the company had actually resorted to layoffs in the recent past, albeit for reasons other than workplace stress.
Another former employee pointed to long working hours and said employees were forced to work on weekends and non-working days.
