Girona vs Liverpool: Alisson back in the squad for the UCL duel

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisso Becker could make his first appearance for the club in more than two months when Arne Slot’s side face Girona in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Alisson has been out since October 5 with a hamstring injury when he was forced off in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Republic of Ireland international Caoimhín Kelleher has performed admirably in the 32-year-old’s absence, although he made a costly mistake in last week’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United.

Slot has previously confirmed that Alisson will return to goal once he is fit and the Liverpool boss could give the Brazil international a starting place at the Estadi Montilivi as his side look to continue their impeccable Champions League record.

Alisson trained with the first team on Monday afternoon before flying to Spain with the squad. The goalkeeper shared a photo of himself on board the flight on his Instagram story with the caption: “So happy to be back.”

Diogo Jota, who has been absent since Liverpool’s win over Chelsea on October 20, also trained with the team on Monday but was not included in the 19-man squad, while fellow striker Federico Chiesa is out due to illness.
