Luigi Mangione has been identified as the person involved in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

The person of interest in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is an anti-capitalist former Ivy League student – who liked online quotes from “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski, who railed against the country’s medical community rages.

Tech expert Luigi Mangione, 26, of Towson, Maryland, was arrested Monday morning at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an intense manhunt following the cold-blooded execution of Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel last week, sources said.

He was not charged.

A former preschool valedictorian was caught with a manifesto that appeared to detail grievances against the health care industry, including taking over its huge profits and alleged shady motives, sources said.

He is believed to have acted alone and it is unclear whether he has made any statements yet.

Law enforcement officials say Mangione has embraced anti-capitalist causes and climate change and has also shown contempt for the country’s health care industry, citing online activity investigated by authorities.

On the Goodreads website, Mangione’s report includes quotes he particularly likes, from Socrates to Bruce Lee to mad anti-establishment fighter Ted Kaczynski, the infamous “Unabomber” who terrorized the country for nearly two decades by committing deadly Planted bombs before he was caught in 1996.

“Imagine a society that subjects people to conditions that make them terribly unhappy and then gives them drugs to eliminate their unhappiness,” Kaczynski once wrote, in a quote that Mangione liked.

“Science fiction is already happening to some extent in our own society. Instead of eliminating the conditions that make people depressed, modern society gives them antidepressants. In fact, antidepressants are a means of altering a person’s internal state so that he can tolerate social conditions that he would otherwise find intolerable.”
