OKC Thunder Rising Star leaves game against Golden State Warriors early

Different verse like the first one for the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Golden State Warriors. For the second meeting between these two teams in a row, a rising star, the OKC Thunder, had to leave the game early.

Two weeks ago, the Thunder lost Chet Holmgren to the Warriors when the 6-footer fielded an Andrew Wiggins jam. Holmgren suffered the worst of the contact, landing hard and awkwardly on his hip and suffering a hip fracture that sidelined him for much of the regular season.

Tonight, Williams challenged a slam from Jonathan Kuminga in the final seconds of the first half and landed a hand to the face that put him out for the game.

The Thunder’s rising star dominated in this game – as he has in the last ten games – and scored 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals in just 16 minutes of play.

Williams never came out of the locker room after halftime and was quickly ruled out of the game. The Oklahoma City Thunder have announced that he has sustained an injury to his right eye.

It’s not the first time in his career that the third-year swing man has caught the eye. In his rookie season, Williams began his career with an eye injury right at the start. His status for Friday’s NBA Cup game against the Los Angeles Lakers is not yet known.
