Temperatures will drop on Monday afternoon

Here is your Monday afternoon forecast for December 9, 2024 from the Minnesota Weather Department and meteorologist Matt Serwe.

Temperatures will drop on Monday afternoon! As the sun sets, you can expect temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s in the Twin Cities, with chilly winds in the 10s. As the cooler air moves in, there may be a few snow showers every now and then, but nothing will stick.

A second cold front will sweep across the state Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. This will bring more moisture with it, so there will likely be some snow Tuesday evening. This should not have a major impact on the roads.

It will have a big impact on temperatures and wind chill. Temperatures will drop into the single digits Wednesday afternoon and stay there through Friday morning. In the Twin Cities it will feel like -10° to -20° from Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday. In northern and western Minnesota it could feel like -25° along this route.

The cold air escapes quickly. We’ll be back in the 30s this weekend, with a chance of a wintry mix on Saturday.
