He had to be extricated from his £260,000 Ferrari FF, which was torn apart when it crashed into a tree in Theydon Bois, Essex, on Saturday.

Antonio miraculously escaped his horrific supercar accident.

Witnesses reported that the stricken West Ham star was in a highly confused state.

The driver’s side was torn apart and the impact is said to have caused Mikhail to be thrown into the passenger seat.

He was trapped in the shattered rubble for almost an hour before being airlifted from the scene.

Last night he was recovering from surgery on a lower limb fracture in a London hospital.

Samuel Woods, 34, was driving home after walking his dog in Epping Forest when he saw what he assumed was a parked car on the side of the road.

He stopped and rushed to help when he saw a man inside who appeared to be “in a lot of trouble.”

Samuel, a carer from Regent’s Park, told The Sun: “I said ‘hello’ to him to see if anyone was alive.

“I heard sirens and told him help was on the way.

“He was so disoriented. He said, “Where am I?” What’s going on? Which car am I in?’

“The paramedics were on site very quickly. I couldn’t believe what happened. The car smelled like gasoline.”

Samuel, who doesn’t follow football and didn’t recognize the star, continued: “I looked at him and thought, ‘He’s in big trouble’.”

“I just said, ‘You had an accident.’ He didn’t answer. He looked around, trying to figure out what I had just said. He was sitting on the passenger side.”

Other drivers also reported seeing smoke rising from the wreckage – near West Ham owner David Sullivan’s home.

A motorist who passed the scene just minutes after the accident told The Sun: “I could see the car was a complete mess.

“Because there was smoke coming from the car, I think people were too afraid to approach it.”

Thousands of fans sent prayers and well wishes after news of the crash broke.

A West Ham spokesman said yesterday: “Mikhail underwent surgery on a lower limb fracture following a road accident on Saturday afternoon. Mikhail will continue to be monitored in the hospital in the coming days.

“Everyone at the club wishes Mikhail a speedy recovery and would like to express their sincere thanks to the entire football family for the overwhelming support he has shown since yesterday’s news.”

The club also expressed its “heartfelt thanks to the emergency services and medical team who continue to help him in his recovery.”

Mikhail’s ex-wife Debbie traveled from their home in Manchester to be at his bedside.

Former and current teammates also sent messages of goodwill to the popular star, including Declan Rice, who said: “Thinking of you and your family brother. Prayers to you all.”

Maxwel Cornet wrote: “With you, brother.”

The Ferrari FF was the fastest four-seater car in the world when it was launched in 2011.

It can reach 330 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

Mikhail crashed his £210,000 Lamborghini into a garden wall on an icy road on Christmas Day 2019.

He moved to West Ham from Nottingham Forest for £7 million in 2015 and became the East London club’s top Prem goalscorer with 68 goals in 268 games.

Michail, who also hosts the BBC podcast “Footballer’s Football” alongside Callum Wilson from Newcastle, was selected for the England national team three times but never played.

In 2021 he moved to Jamaica, where his parents are from, and has won 21 international matches.
