Original story: Louis Vuitton has announced a major collection for early 2025 on Instagram. Marking two decades since its iconic collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, the French luxury fashion house will launch a nostalgic re-edition of the collaboration.

While little is known about the release, the Instagram announcement includes a short teaser clip of what fans can expect. With Murakami’s iconic vibrant floral motifs as well as the bear combined with the classic LV moniker, the duo appears to be preparing a major re-release of some of the collaboration’s most famous pieces. From bags to accessories, the possibilities are endless.

When the collaboration first debuted on the Louis Vuitton runway in Spring/Summer 2003, LV’s then creative director Marc Jacobs defined fashion collaborations for the ’00s. At the time, LV bags featured logos in kelly green, turquoise, yellow and pink and featured monogram patterns and cherry blossoms, allowing Murakami to lend his cartoon artwork to the house’s signature pieces. The collaboration, which brought LV to the attention of modern mainstream media, is considered one of the most memorable to date. Currently, some of these pieces are offered at auction houses and are sold many times over. The “ultimate crossover,” said Marc Jacobs in 2009: “Our collaboration has produced many works and has been a great influence and inspiration for many.” It was and is a monumental marriage of art and commerce. The ultimate crossover – for both fashion and art history.”

The collaborative re-release of the LV x Takashi Murakami collection releases on January 1, 2025. Stay tuned for more information.
