Cam Coleman addresses the rumor that he left Auburn football to enter the transfer portal

Internet trolls circulated a graphic of No. 8 Auburn football landing in the transfer portal, but it wasn’t Cam Coleman leaving the Plains. The Tigers’ other No. 8, Antonio Kite, actually did Enter the portal when it was opened.

Coleman shared a story on Instagram denying he was breaking up the “Freeze Four” with a departure that would shake up the program.

“I’m not in the transfer portal!” Coleman exclaimed.

Hank Brown had previously announced his transfer portal entry before claiming it was false, but then left a week later. It wouldn’t be anything new on this Tigers roster if Coleman ultimately decided to transfer.

Still, there’s no evidence that Coleman is considering it. The thought of this clearly insults Phenix City’s product.

But to be clear: There will be losses in the transfer portal. Who it will be is unclear, as Hugh Freeze’s players aren’t big on talking deals with the media.

Kite had been released from the program in October after missing several practices, so it was no surprise that he moved on. Caleb Burton and Camden Brown have both left the WR room. TEs Micah Riley and Grant Hidalgo joined them. Holden Geriner left the QB room with Brown. The rest of the transfers so far consist of three defensemen, an OL and a punter.

Coleman would be a far greater loss than anyone else AU has lost. Luckily, that doesn’t seem to be on the table in a critical offseason for Freeze and company.
