Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow told reporters he was confident the team could convince receiver Tee Higgins to return after the Bengals lost 27-20 to Dallas on ABC/ESPN’s Monday Night Football at AT&T Stadium Cowboys had won.

Higgins is expected to be among the most sought-after free agents, but Burrow hinted after Monday night’s game that the Bengals might bring him back.

Higgins is in his fifth season with the Bengals. On Monday night, he had two catches for 23 yards.

“It’s 100 percent possible (to bring Higgins back),” teammate and fellow receiver Ja’Marr Chase told reporters. “It’s just chess.”

Higgins injured his back at the end of the first quarter of the Bengals’ Week 11 NFL loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football.

Higgins blocked a hard shot backwards from the Chargers’ Denzel Perryman after making an 8-yard catch from quarterback Joe Burrow on fourth down. Higgins was supported off the field by the training staff. He went into the blue medical tent for an examination and medical staff applied lotion to his lower back. He returned and finished the game with nine catches for 148 yards.
