The Bengals end their losing streak after the Cowboys’ head-scratching blunder on “Monday Night Football”

The Cincinnati Bengals suffered some crushing losses this season, but ultimately managed to pull out a 23-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

The Bengals ended a three-game losing streak and were 5-8 on the season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ two-game winning streak is coming to an end and they are also 5-8 on the year.

At the two-minute warning, the Bengals were in their own zone after a potential game-winning drive went wrong. On fourth-and-27, they had no choice but to punt, and things got worse when Cal Adomitis blocked the punt, which should have given the Cowboys perfect field position to take the lead late in the game.

Then came the Bengals’ big breakthrough for Zac Taylor’s team.

Amani Oruwariye thought it wise to try and recover the bouncing ball while it was on its way down, but he failed to clear it cleanly.

Because it touched Oruwariye, the Bengals were able to recover and regain possession, and that’s exactly what happened as Maema Njongmeta fell on the ball at the Cincinnati 43-yard line, giving Joe Burrow and his team another chance to take the lead to take over.

Just three plays later, Burrow found old reliable Ja’Marr Chase on a short pass that missed a Cowboys cornerback, and he made his way to a 40-yard touchdown to make it 27-20 -Equalize to score extra point.

It capped another Monday Night Football highlight for Chase, who finished the game with 177 yards on 14 catches and two touchdowns, including the first for the Bengals of the night.

Cooper Rush and the Cowboys had enough time to move downfield for a potentially game-winning drive. But on fourth-and-7 near midfield, Rush outran Jake Ferguson and the ball landed on the turf, sealing Dallas’ fate as a loss.

CeeDee Lamb, who scored the game’s first touchdown and had 93 yards on six catches, jumped up and down because he was wide open in the middle of the field. Rush didn’t see him and hence the result.

Burrow’s night was once again spectacular as he went 33 of 44 for 369 yards with three touchdowns – the other being a catch-and-run by running back Chase Brown in the first half – and an interception.

For the Cowboys, despite the loss, a positive trend continued for Rico Dowdle, as the young running back gained a game-high 131 yards on just 18 carries. Since taking over the lead role in the backfield, Dowdle really stepped up his game towards the end of the season.
