’28 Years Later’ Trailer Teases Zombified Cillian Murphy: Watch

The first teaser trailer is available 28 years laterthe third installment in the series from Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle and author Alex Garland 28 days later Franchise. And it could show the outcome of Cillian Murphy’s character Jim.

With the question “What will become of humanity?”, the post-apocalyptic horror film picks up almost three decades after the onslaught of an angry virus that led to the collapse of society after its escape from a biological weapons laboratory.

Audiences first saw the chaos in 2002 28 days laterin which Murphy played a bicycle messenger who awakens from a coma during the outbreak. Sequel to Juan Carlos Fersnadillo from 2007 28 weeks later captured the efforts of NATO forces trying to save a safe zone in London from the virus.

Murphy’s Jim was missing from the sequel, but he reportedly appears in it 28 years later although his name is not listed in the official cast release. The Oscar winner even serves as an executive producer on the film.

But viewers won’t see Murphy in the trailer – except perhaps in a brief shot of a zombie that bears a striking resemblance to the Irish star.

Could that be Jim? Fans will have to wait until the film’s release in June 2025 to be sure, although online chatter seems to be abuzz with speculation.

This enthusiasm also included praise for the exciting trailer itself, which does an excellent job of setting the tone for the film without giving away too much of the plot. The clip is based on a haunting recording of Rudyard Kipling’s war poem “Boots”. by former silent film star Taylor Holmes, a choice that ups the fear factor.

Franchise newcomers Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes star 28 years laterthe trio fights through the horror to secure their future. The trailer begins with the outbreak as it “began 10,228 days ago,” and then goes on to show that the threat of the Rage virus remains, no matter how long has passed.

In fact, the slogan is for 28 years later warns: “Time has healed nothing.”

28 years later is the first part of a new film trilogy in the series. 28 Years Later II: The Bone Templea direct sequel, has already been filmed, directed by director Nia DaCosta. No release date has been announced.

Who Comer, Taylor-Johnson and Fiennes will play in the first film still remains a mystery.

An official synopsis for the films states: “It’s been nearly three decades since the Rage virus escaped from a biological weapons lab, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to survive amid the One of these survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected, but other survivors as well.”

In May, Comer, 31, said the plot of the long-awaited sequel was “emotional.”

“I remember seeing it 28 days later and I was so impressed by how much it was rooted in reality and was more about exploring us as a species and our behavior and how we react,” the author said Kill Eve Stern said Total film. “It felt like there was a lot of emotional truth in the film that really anchored it. I felt that too when I read this script.”

28 years later hits theaters June 20th.
