Pepperdine University remains affected by the fire in Franklin, Los Angeles, California, early Tuesday morning and an emergency shelter in place remains in effect “at least until daylight,” the university said.

Pepperdine’s updates have been available on the university’s Facebook and X pages since shortly before 1 a.m. local time.

“The University recognizes that the worst of the fire has already passed Pepperdine,” reads X’s latest post. “However, there are smaller, isolated fires on campus that are not endangering lives or buildings, and fire resources remain on campus to combat these local fires as they occur.”

The post continued: “In addition, power remains out across much of Malibu. Therefore, to ensure the safety of our community, we will maintain the shelter-in-place protocol at least until daybreak. The EOC will continue to update the community.”
