What a week to be a Celtic fan.

Tonight we face Dinamo Zagreb and we know that a win would almost certainly see us move into the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Then, almost as soon as the players touch down back in Glasgow, attention will quickly turn to the small matter of Sunday’s League Cup final with Rangers.

That’s all there is to playing and it’s exactly the kind of week any football fan would enjoy.

However, as we all know, it’s only fun if you get the right results and that is the challenge that Brendan Rodgers and his players will have to face in the coming days.

If you believe the reports emerging from Croatia about a team in disarray and a coach under heavy pressure, Celtic have every chance of going to the Maksimir Stadium and getting a result that puts them firmly in the running for a place in the League stay next level.

A draw would be good. A win would be phenomenal.

Since that dark night in Dortmund, this team has made great strides on the big stage and performances against Atalanta, RB Leipzig and Club Brugge show us signs of a team that is evolving under Rodgers’ leadership.

Meanwhile, domestically, things could hardly be better.

Of Celtic’s 18 games in the Scottish Premiership and League Cup this season, we have won 17, with the 2-2 draw against Aberdeen in October being the only blemish.

And while cup finals can often bring an element of unpredictability, it would undoubtedly be a shock if Rangers were the first team to inflict defeat on the champions this season.

Incredibly, the Ibrox side have won just once in their last 16 meetings – a dead team after Ange Postecoglou secured his second successive league title – and it is becoming increasingly difficult to imagine them defeating Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kuhn and co. as Celtic can stop the machine rolling on.

Everything starts at 17:45 GMT. Let’s see if we can do double that.
