The Cyberpunk 2077 2.2 update is here, with patch notes about what’s new

As promised, update 2.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 is here, bringing with it a host of new features and fixes for CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG. Tuesday’s update appears exactly four years to the day Cyberpunk 2077is the original (extremely buggy) version and offers players new character customization options, new photo mode features, and other gameplay improvements.

Cyberpunk 2077Update 2.2 came as a bit of a surprise, as developer CD Projekt Red said that the game’s previous patch – released in December 2023 – would be “the last major update.” But CD Projekt Red has since hired another developer, Virtuos, to help further develop the game, the studio announced in a livestream on Tuesday.

This livestream goes over the changes coming with Update 2.2, but there are some highlights for players who don’t have the time to watch all 44 minutes of it. Many of the major changes are cosmetic; Players can now use CrystalCoat paint schemes on a wider range of vehicles Cyberpunk 2077 And with TwinTone technology, they can instantly copy other cars’ color schemes. Here’s how the new TwinTone feature works, according to CDPR’s patch notes:

Simply scan a car with your Kiroshi Optics, go to the TWINTONE™ tab, then save the vehicle’s color scheme for a small fee. You can then select the scheme in the TWINTONE™ database in the CrystalCoat™ menu. You will also find generic color schemes for all CrystalCoat™ compatible vehicles, as well as unique color schemes exclusive to the vehicle model from which they are copied. Please note that cloning color schemes is not permitted for vehicles that are linked to quests, belong to the NCPD or are incompatible with CrystalCoat™ technology.

Cyberpunk 2077The character creator has also received a ton of new customization options, including:

Other improvements in Update 2.2 include additional one-on-one conversations with Johnny Silverhand, who sometimes relaxes in the passenger seat of your car, and numerous community-requested Photo Mode features.
