College football transfer portal tracker: Wisconsin’s Tyler Van Dyke enters the portal

The transfer season is in full swing College footballonce again, and some standout players are already on the move.

The portal officially opened on Monday, December 9th and will close on December 28th.

Players from teams participating in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff and later bowl games will be able to participate in an additional five-day transfer portal window in January after the portal closes.

Let’s take a look at the players testing the waters and switching.

Wisconsin QB Tyler Van Dyke

Van Dyke enters the portal again, ESPN reported on December 9th. He arrived at Wisconsin prior to the 2024 season after transferring from Miami (Florida), where he won the 2021 ACC Rookie of the Year title. Wisconsin hoped Van Dyke would add stability to its quarterback position, but its 2024 season ended more than two games later when he suffered a torn ACL in Week 3. Van Dyke has one more season of eligibility.

Ohio State QB Devin Brown

Brown announced his intention to enter the transfer portal in a social media post on December 8thHe said he intends to stay with the Buckeyes via the CFP. Brown lost a close QB competition to Kyle McCord in 2023 and was pushed to the background again when the Buckeyes brought in Kansas State transfer Will Howard for 2024. For 2025, Ohio State has a crowded quarterback room that includes Julian Sayin, who was the nation’s top-rated recruit in the 2024 class.

Western Kentucky QB TJ Finley

Finley has announced that he wants to enter the portal for the fifth time. He previously played for LSU, Auburn and Texas State. Finley was named WKU’s starter earlier this season, but was sidelined by a leg injury in early September and was never able to resume the starting role. In three games, he threw for 490 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Michigan RB Cole Cabana

Cabana, a second-year running back from Dexter, Mich., with three years of eligibility remaining, intends to enter the portal. The former four-star recruit struggled with injuries and playing time in his two seasons with the program. Cabana finished his Michigan career with just two carries for six yards, both in 2023.

Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold

Arnold throws his hat into the portal ring. Arnold, a former five-star recruit, was Oklahoma’s primary quarterback this season. He was benched after four weeks but was later given his starting job back. OU went 5-5 in games Arnold started. The second-year signal-caller totaled 1,421 passing yards, 12 passing scores, three interceptions and a passer rating of 124.8 while completing 62.6% of his passes. He also passed for 444 yards and three touchdowns.

Iowa QB Cade McNamara

McNamara is on the move again and announces that he plans to enter the transfer portal when it officially opens. This is the second time McNamara has entered the portal. He transferred from Michigan to Iowa after the 2022 season. Iowa hoped that McNamara would improve its offense, but he tore his ACL in five games during the 2023 season. He struggled in 2024, throwing for just 1,017 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions in eight games. He missed the team’s final four games of the season. McNamara previously helped Michigan win the Big Ten in 2021 before losing the starting job to JJ McCarthy the following year.

Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman

Weigman, a highly touted 2022 recruit, plans to enter the portal. Weigman began the season as the Aggies’ starter, but injuries and inconsistent play led to Marcel Reed taking over at QB. The redshirt sophomore posted a 9-4 record in two seasons at Texas A&M, including a 4-1 record this year. In six total games in 2024, he threw for 819 yards and three scores while also throwing five interceptions. Weigman is reportedly hoping to land at a CFP contender.

Stanford QB Ashton Daniels

Stanford’s top quarterback will look for a new school. Daniels, who started nine games this season, confirmed to On3 that he intends to enter the portal. In 11 appearances this season, he threw for 1,700 for 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Daniels also led the Cardinal in rushing with 148 carries for 669 yards and added three touchdowns on the ground. The junior still has one year of eligibility left. Daniel’s replacement, Justin Lamson, is also moving.

Michigan WR Tyler Morris

The Wolverines’ 2024 leading wideout plans to leave, he announced Dec. 3. Morris topped all Michigan receivers with 23 catches for 248 yards and two touchdowns, despite ranking behind tight end Colston Loveland in every category. Those aren’t big numbers, but Michigan averaged just 133.6 yards per game (No. 130 in the country) as it struggled to find a QB to replace McCarthy, Morris’ high school teammate. He still has one year of eligibility left.

USC QB Miller Moss

The 22-year-old will enter the transfer portal when it opens. he announced on December 2nd. “I really enjoyed my time at USC,” Moss said said ESPN in a separate statement. “It has changed my life as a whole and my childhood in recent years. I am grateful. I gave this program everything I had. There comes a point when it’s time to move on to new opportunities and I hope to improve as a person and player. After two years as Caleb WilliamsAs a backup, Moss opened the 2024 season as USC’s starter. He completed 64.4% of his passes for 2,555 yards, 18 scores and nine picks in the regular season before losing his starting job in November.

Freedom QB Kaidon Salter

Liberty’s starting quarterback announced he plans to enter the transfer portal on December 2nd. Salter won the 2023 Conference USA MVP while leading Liberty to the Fiesta Bowl. He has totaled 7,900 yards and 77 touchdowns over his college career and has one season of eligibility remaining.

FIU QB Keyone Jenkins

FIU’s standout signal-caller announced he plans to enter the transfer portal on December 2nd. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Texas Tech WR Micah Hudson

Hudson announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 1st. Hudson was the 25th overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class but had a disappointing season as a freshman. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

FIU WR Eric Rivers

Rivers announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 1st. Rivers was statistically one of the best wide receivers in the country in 2024, ranking fourth in receiving yards (1,172) and receiving touchdowns (12).

State of North Carolina WR Kevin Concepcion

The talented NC State wide receiver announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 1st. Concepcion won ACC Rookie of the Year and was named a 2023 Freshman All-American.

Georgia CB Julian Humphrey

Humphrey, a third-year student, announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 1st. Humphrey’s announcement came at an unusual time, as Georgia will play in the upcoming SEC Championship Game. Humphrey was one of the Bulldogs’ starters for the first ten games of the season before being benched.

Virginia QB Anthony Colandrea

Colandrea announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 1st. The sophomore started the first 11 games of the season for Virginia before being substituted in the regular-season finale with bowl eligibility at stake.

Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos

Castellanos announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on November 14th. After starting 12 games during the 2023 season, Castellanos was Boston College’s starter until he lost his job to Grayson James with three games left in the season.
