A fake Burger King post is circulating following McDonald’s arrest of Mangione

A post shared by social media users appears to show Burger King writing, “We won’t tell” after Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was arrested at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania when an employee the Police called.

However, all signs point to the post being fake.

“Burger King didn’t post that, it’s a digitally altered image,” he said Reads post.

Photos shared Tuesday by Pennsylvania State Police show Mangione eating what appears to be a hash brown at McDonald’s with his blue face mask down.

Additionally, the post, shared by thousands of users and viewed over 6 million times, shows retweets and quote tweets that were discontinued when Elon Musk bought Twitter and changed the name to X in July 2023.

Mangione, 26, was arrested Monday in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and presenting false identification to police. He is charged in a New York criminal complaint with five counts, including murder, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Thompson, 50, was shot and killed outside a midtown Manhattan hotel on Wednesday in what police described as a “brazen, targeted attack.”

Burger King has not commented on the fake photo.
