Joe Burrow’s home was broken into as athlete break-ins increased

NFL star Joe Burrow’s home was broken into while he was in Texas for a Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. The break-in was discovered by swimsuit model Olivia Ponton.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said Ponton, an IMG model and influencer, discovered the break-in when she arrived at the residence, according to an incident report.

The report states that Ponton, 22, was employed by Burrow and stated in the 911 call that “someone broke into my house.”

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback’s home in Anderson Township was reportedly broken into at 9:14 p.m. Monday.

A 911 call obtained by TMZ revealed the tense moments during the break-in.

A caller identifying herself as Ponton’s mother said her daughter was staying at Burrow’s house and told dispatchers, “Someone is trying to break into the house right now.” My daughter is here. This is Joe Burrow’s house. She stays there. He’s at the football game. She’s wondering what to do, whether to hide or go outside.”

The model later called 911 herself and explained: “Someone broke into my house. It’s a complete mess.” Radio traffic that night indicated that a security guard was present at the house during the incident.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the break-in but did not provide further details. Burrow, who was out of town for the game, could not comment on what may have been stolen. However, Ponton – who discovered the crime scene – provided officers with a general list of potentially missing items.

This slump is the latest in a troubling pattern targeting professional athletes. In October, Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce suffered burglaries. Mahomes’ home was broken into on October 6, just a day before Kelce’s apartment was attacked while the team was playing the New Orleans Saints.

During a Kansas City Chiefs press conference in November, Mahomes addressed the slump. “It’s frustrating, it’s disappointing,” he admitted. “I can’t go into too many details as the investigation is still ongoing.”

Mahomes’ burglary occurred on October 6, the day before Kelce’s home was broken into, the same day they played the New Orleans Saints.

The NBA was not spared either: Bobby Portis, forward of the Milwaukee Bucks, suffered a break-in on November 2nd, while on September 15th, at the same time as he was attending a Minnesota Vikings game, he was broken into the home of Mike Conley Jr., guard the Minnesota Timberwolves, was broken into.

Authorities suspect that a South American crime ring is behind these high-profile burglaries. The NFL has warned its players that the homes of professional athletes in various sports are “increasingly the target of break-ins by organized and skilled groups,” according to a memo obtained by The Associated Press.

At this time, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed whether Burrow’s case is related to the other NFL burglaries. “Our investigators are looking at all possibilities,” Public Information Officer Kyla Woods told the outlet.
