Today’s top NBA player prop picks

Orlando Magic at the Milwaukee Bucks

Goga Bitadze over 18.5 points + Reb (-122)

There will be more stats on the Orlando Magic’s role players, with Franz Wagner (oblique) expected to be out for an extended period of time and Paolo Banchero (oblique) on the injury report.

The 6-foot-10 Goga Bitadze is getting a big usage boost with Wagner and Banchero out of the game, and I think his combined points and rebounds (PR) are understated for tonight.

Bitadze records the team’s best net rating among players who have played at least 20 games at +9.8. On Sunday – Orlando’s first game without Banchero and Wagner – Bitadze played 31 minutes, only to be surpassed by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (33). He took advantage of the opportunity and scored 21 points and 16 rebounds – good for an impressive PR of 37.

The Magic haven’t shown much willingness to give Wendell Carter Jr. an extended run, and Jonathan Isaac (hamstring injury) is at risk of missing tonight’s contest. Bitadze should have a prominent role tonight against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, giving him a great chance to overcome the 18.5 PR. Goga has exceeded a PR of 18.5 in 10 of 14 games (71.4% of contests) in which he played at least 22 minutes.

The Bucks (16th) run faster than Orlando (25th). Milwaukee also allows the eighth-most rebounds and seventh-most putback opportunities per game.

Since Bitadze has cleared his PR base on this line in 71.4% of the games in which he got a good run, I will have no hesitation in betting on him when the Magic are so shorthanded. After seeing him put up a whopping 37 PR in his first game without Wagner and Banchero, I wouldn’t mind trying out the alternate lines for this prop as well. You can get Goga Bitadze over 25.5 PR at +290.

Dallas Mavericks at Oklahoma City Thunder

Luka Doncic over 46.5 points + Reb + Ast (-113)

The second leg of tonight’s NBA doubleheader on TNT offers basketball fans a duel between Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. This game features a tight spread (4.5) and a high over/under (230.5), creating the perfect storm for Doncic to put on a clinic.

Luka is averaging 45.1 combined points, rebounds and assists (PRA), but he is below his long-term averages in shooting efficiency, rebound conversion and assist conversion. Based on these long-term conversion rates, he should have an average PRA of 47.8, suggesting he may be undervalued in the prop markets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder play at the tenth fastest pace in the league, while the Dallas Mavericks run at the seventh fastest pace. This is great news for Luka, who has a 47.8 PRA against top-14 teams, but only generates a 42.3 PRA outside of that split.

As two of only four teams to reach 16 wins in the West, this showdown between Dallas and OKC is primed to be competitive. Notably, Luka averages a PRA of 47.3 in games decided by 12 points or fewer. Amazingly, he also hits 48.2 PRA on the road and only 42.6 PRA at home. While the home and away stats may not mean much at this point in the season, it is at least nice to see that Luka has been brave in the away arenas. I like his chances of putting up big numbers tonight and it doesn’t hurt that he had two days of rest before this game.

Isaiah Hartenstein over 22.5 points + Reb (-122)

It didn’t take long for Isaiah Hartenstein to make his mark on the Thunder.

OKC is 7-1 against Hartenstein and the big man has contributed 24.6 PRs per game. Three of those wins were decided by more than 20 points, which kept Hartenstein off the field the entire way. Here’s a look at his performance in competitive matches: 27, 28, 29, 32 and 24 PR.

See why we want him to go over 22.5 PR tonight?

As mentioned, the Mavs and Thunder are among the ten fastest teams in the league, which should provide plenty of scoring and rebounding opportunities across the board. Dallas gets the tenth most points in the table. As you can probably imagine, Hartenstein scores 85.1% of his points in the game. An increase in OKC shots around the rim not only gives I-Hart more scoring opportunities, but also puts him in an ideal position to drive the boards.

Hartenstein is a foul-prone player, but the Mavs average 19.5 fouls per game at midfield, so he could be kept out of trouble in that regard. You can also get Hartenstein to post a double-double at -105 odds, which he has done in all five OKC games decided by less than 20 points.
