Paris has openly grieved the loss of her father over the years. (Michael’s death was ruled a homicide caused by a lethal combination of sedatives and propofol, a powerful anesthetic.)

“They always say, ‘Time heals.’ But it really doesn’t. You just get used to it,” Paris said Rolling Stone in 2017. “I live with the mentality of, ‘Okay, I lost the only thing that ever mattered to me.’ So in the future, whatever bad thing happens may not be nearly as bad as what happened before. So I can deal with it.”

She added: “I feel him being with me all the time.”

Years later, Paris honored him with a sweet tribute on social media. “He would have been 65 years old today,” Paris wrote via Instagram in August 2023. “And he put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into what he did so that I could stand up here on that stage in front of you and scream into a microphone. That’s why I owe him everything.”
