ForbesToday’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues and Solutions for Tuesday December 9th

We have put up our Christmas tree and most of our Christmas decorations, although there is still some work to be done outside. It’s a lot of work decorating everything for the holidays, but I’m lucky my kids are old enough now to do a lot of it themselves. I’m also lucky to have kids who are so excited about the holidays because many teenagers wouldn’t be as supportive. In any case, the season is really upon us! Let’s solve this mini crossword puzzle!

The NYT Mini is a smaller, faster, more digestible and bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword and, unlike its bigger brother, is free to play without requiring a New York Times subscription. You can play it on the web or in the app, although you need the app to manage the archive.

Answers to today’s mini crossword puzzle below. . . .

Spoilers ahead!

ABOVE

1 – “This is my ___!” (“I LOVE this song!”) – JAM

4 – Jay, who hosted “The Tonight Show” from 1992-2009 and 2010-14 – LENO

5 – Assassin skilled in martial arts – NINJA

6 – Element whose name can be found in FARGO, ND – ARGON

7 – Friends, rustic – BEAUS

DOWN

1 – Game with a tower that falls over – JENGA

2 – Green-skinned pear variety – ANJOU

3 – Sounds from a child after perhaps being asked to turn off the TV – MOANS

4 – Currency replaced by the Euro in Italy – LIRE

5 – Caught in the act – NAB

All in all, another pretty straightforward mini that only caught up with me a few times. Mainly, I wasn’t sure what 7-Across was until I typed other words, and I mistakenly typed LIRA instead of LIRE for 4-down. Other than that, this was a pretty quick fix. It took me 1:25.
