$50,000 ticket sold in New Jersey as last night’s Mega Millions jackpot rose to $670 million with no winner

The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s lottery drawing has increased to $670 million – possibly the 20th largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history, after another drawing without a top prize winner on Tuesday night.

The cash option for Friday’s 10:59 p.m. Mega Millions drawing will have an estimated value of $317.8 million.

No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot since an $800 million ticket was purchased for the Sept. 10 drawing in Sugar Land, Texas. The jackpot has only been won three times this year.

Tuesday’s winning numbers were: 12, 14, 26, 48 And 52. The mega ball was drawn 21 with a Megaplier from 5x.

Two tickets for the third prize with four numbers and the Mega Ball were sold in New Jersey for the drawing. A ticket purchased by a player through the Jackpocket app is worth $50,000 because the winner spent an additional $1 on the Megaplier option. A $10,000 ticket was sold in Somerset County at QuickChek on Easton Avenue in Franklin Township, lottery officials said.

A second-prize ticket sold in Florida is worth $5 million because it was purchased using the Megaplier option. In Maryland, one ticket worth $1 million was purchased, while in California two tickets worth $560,601 were purchased

California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed secondary prices offered in other participating states.

The second prize tickets match five numbers, but not the Mega Ball.

If someone wins Friday, it would be the eighth-largest Mega Millions jackpot.

Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 chance that a ticket that matches five numbers but does not include the Mega Ball will win at least $1 million. The odds of matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball to win at least $10,000 are 931,001 to 1.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday in 45 states as well as Washington, DC and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
