Winter weather warning issued for parts of New York State. How much snow can we expect?

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of New York state effective Wednesday evening through Friday.

Livingston County

  • The consultation runs from Wednesday 7 p.m. to Friday 4 a.m

  • Lake effect snow is forecast – 4 to 7 inches of snow in the most stubborn bands

  • Wind gusts of 35 miles per hour are expected. Blowing and blowing snow is expected

Oneida County

  • The consultation runs from Wednesday 7 p.m. to Friday 1 p.m

  • Lake effect snow is forecast – 2 to 5 inches of snow in most areas and up to 6 inches in the northwestern part of the county

Lake effect snow warnings are issued in New York

Elsewhere in New York, a lake effect snow warning is in effect between Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon. Two to three feet of snow is expected to fall on counties east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario by Friday afternoon.

The warnings are in effect for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie and Wyoming counties, where up to 3 feet of lake-effect snow is expected in the most stubborn bands, and Genesee County, where 10 to 20 inches is expected over the same period. Jefferson, Lewis and Owego counties are also expected to receive up to 3 feet of lake effect snow

Wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are also expected, creating dangerous travel conditions, according to the weather service.
