According to the family, Hannah Kobayashi was found safe in Los Angeles after her disappearance

Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old woman from Hawaii who disappeared after flying to Los Angeles last month, has been found safe, according to her family.

“We are incredibly relieved and grateful that Hannah is safe,” her family said in a statement to KABC. “The last month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family and we kindly ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and process everything we have been through. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us during this difficult time.” . Your kindness and care meant a lot to us.

The family did not provide any further details in their statement.

This was announced by the Los Angeles policePeople On Wednesday, the family announced that Kobayashi had been found. The department had previously determined the woman’s disappearance was voluntary, a designation that was disputed by family members.

“We haven’t seen them and at this point we have no reason to force them to see us,” Lieutenant Doug Oldfield of the department’s Missing Persons Unit told the magazine. “It’s big news, so she might decide to come with a lawyer, but she’s not obligated to talk to us.”

The Independent has asked the family’s lawyer for comment.

Kobayashi boarded a plane to Los Angeles on November 8, but did not board the scheduled connecting flight to New York, where she made an appearance and was photographed at a DJ set.

She told her family that she missed her flight and planned to sleep at the Los Angeles airport.

Family members and friends said they then received worrying messages from Kobayashi’s phone.

“Deep hackers have deleted my identity, stolen all my money and have been driving me crazy since Friday,” one message to a friend said, according to screenshots her sister sent to CNN. “I was pretty much tricked into giving away all of my money,” said another, who followed up with, “To someone I thought I loved.”

Ultimately, they feared she had been the victim of a kidnapping or human trafficking.

Days after her flight, the 30-year-old was photographed in Los Angeles, including at the upscale Grove shopping center.

Her last Instagram post on November 10 seemed to indicate that she was still in Los Angeles. The next day, her family lost contact with her.

Family members gathered the public to try to find Kobayashi.

In late November, Kobayashi’s father Ryan was found dead by suicide in a Los Angeles parking lot.

At a news conference last week, Los Angeles police described the disappearance as voluntary and said Kobayashi picked up her luggage from LAX airport on November 11.

She then used her passport and cash to buy a ticket to the U.S.-Mexico border at Union Station in Los Angeles, reports said.

Police said they “reviewed U.S. Customs and Border Protection video surveillance that clearly shows Kobayashi crossing the U.S. border into Mexico on foot” at the San Ysidro border crossing in San Diego on Nov. 12.

“She was alone with her luggage and appeared to be uninjured at the time,” LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said during the press conference. “Investigators determined that before leaving Maui, Kobayashi had expressed a desire to move away from modern connectivity.”
