Knight celebrated her octogenarian birthday on May 28, 2024. She posted pictures from her long and extraordinary career on Instagram and wrote: “80 years of beautiful life, love, service, celebration, achievement, decline, faith, fun, lessons,” blessings, friendship, collaboration and more. I’m so grateful to be celebrating another amazing birthday. It is an honor to live this wonderful life.

Gladys Knight will take the stage A Motown Christmas

The “Empress of the Soul” is one of the special cast members set to appear on NBC A Motown Christmaswhich airs December 11th at 9/8c.

“Motown’s timeless hits have served as the soundtrack for American families for eight decades,” said Jen Neal, executive vice president of Live Events & Specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment. “NBC is honored to highlight Motown’s iconic legacy with a festive celebration of the holiday season.”

Smokey Robinson and Halle Bailey are set to co-host the event, which will feature performances from Ashanti, Andra Day, BeBe Winans, Jamie Foxx, JoJo, October London, mgk, Pentatonix, Jordin Sparks and the cast of the Broadway show MJ The Musical and Motown acts like Knight, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and the Temptations.
