President-elect Donald Trump nominated several more candidates for various positions in his second term on Wednesday evening.

He named Kari Lake as the next director of Voice of America, a federally funded U.S. government broadcaster. Lake was a longtime Arizona broadcaster who unsuccessfully ran for public office in 2022 and 2024.

“I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as our next Director of Voice of America. Voice of America is an influential broadcaster providing news, information and cultural programming in more than 40 languages ​​on the Internet, mobile and social media, radio and television.

Trump also appointed Dr. Peter Lamelas, a doctor, philanthropist and businessman, as the next US ambassador to Argentina. Lamelas immigrated to the United States from Cuba and founded MD Now Urgent Care in Florida, the state’s largest urgent care system.

“As a child, Peter and his family fled communist Cuba and immigrated LEGALLY to the United States, starting from nothing and achieving the American dream,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Lamelas was previously appointed to the Justice Department’s Medal of Valor Review Board during Trump’s first term and served as a city commissioner in Manalapan, Florida, and on the state’s Board of Medicine.

Also on Wednesday evening, Trump announced Daniel Newlin, a veteran law enforcement officer and personal injury attorney, as the next U.S. ambassador to Colombia.

In addition to his 28-year career with the Orange County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office, where he worked as a fugitive detective, Newlin is also a business executive and entrepreneur who founded Dan Newlin Personal Injury Attorneys – the second largest law firm of its kind in the country.

“With his law enforcement expertise that enables him to address complex international issues and his business insights that advance economic partnerships, Newlin is considered a strong advocate for U.S. interests and a champion for strengthening relationships and unifying “To make a difference in the world,” Trump wrote.
