Unclaimed Mega Millions ticket expires, $197 million at stake

Playing the lottery and not winning the jackpot is entirely to be expected. But to win the grand prize and leave it unclaimed… unimaginable.

Someone bought a Mega Millions ticket in Los Angeles last year but has yet to claim their whopping $197 million winnings. You have until Saturday before the ticket expires, the California Lottery said.

The unclaimed ticket is one of two tickets that matched all six numbers sold on December 8, 2023 at a Chevron gas station in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Encino, Southern California. The other winner claimed his half of the $395 million Mega Millions jacket. said the California Lottery.

“We have no way of knowing who has the second jackpot hole on this incredible evening,” California Lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Becker said in a statement.

What are the winning numbers?

The winning numbers for the Mega Millions drawing on December 8, 2023 are: 21, 26, 53, 66, 70 and the Mega Ball of 13.

If the winner hopes to redeem their prize before Saturday’s deadline, they must go directly to one of nine California Lottery offices throughout the state. Alternatively, they may fill out a form available online and mail it to California Lottery headquarters, postmarked no later than Saturday, December 7, 2024.
