2025 Critics Choice Awards Film Nominations: Full List

2025 Critics Choice Awards Film Nominations: Full List

Just days after international journalists at the Golden Globes Foundation confirmed their picks for the year’s best film, the Critics Choice Association did the same with the group’s annual film nominations for the Critics Choice Awards.

It was announced Thursday that “Wicked” and “Conclave” tied for the most nominations this year with 11 nominations each. Close behind with 10 nominations each were the films “Dune: Part Two” and “Emilia Perez”. The full list of nominees can be found below.

“Conclave” was nominated for Best Film and Best Acting Ensemble Ralph Fiennes (Best Actor) and Isabella Rossellini (Best Supporting Actress) is available for nominations as a single actress. director Edward Berger was nominated for Best Director while Peter Straughan received an award in the group’s Best Adapted Screenplay category. Other nominations included Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Costume Design and Best Score.

“Wicked” appeared in many of the same categories, including Best Picture and Best Director. Jon M. ChuBest Acting Ensemble, Best Adapted Screenplay for Winnie Holzman And Dana Foxand Best Cinematography, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. More nominations included for “Wicked.” Cynthia Erivo (Best Actress), Ariana Grande (Best Supporting Actress), Best Hair and Makeup and Best Visual Effects.

“Conclave,” “Wicked,” “Dune: Part Two” and “Emilia Perez” all received best picture nominations. Rounding out the group’s ten-member field were “A Complete Unknown,” “Anora,” “The Brutalist,” “Nickel Boys,” “Sing Sing” and “The Substance.” In particular, the film “A Real Pain,” which is expected to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Film, is missing from the list of candidates.

Berger and Chu were joined in the Best Director category by six other filmmakers, likely indicating that there were some ties to widen the field (traditionally there are six nominees). Other filmmakers nominated for Best Director this year included: Jacques Audiard (“Emilia Perez”), Sean Baker (“Anora”), Brady Corbet (“The Brutalist”), Coralie Fargeat (“The Substance”), RaMell Ross (“Nickel Boys”) and Denis Villeneuve (“Dune: Part Two”).

Despite six nominations in the acting categories, there were still some notable criticisms missing from this year’s Critics Choice Award nominations list. As Best Actor Sebastian Stan received no nomination for either “The Apprentice” or “A Different Man.” Jesse Eisenberg was also left out for “A Real Pain”. The Best Actor field consists of the expected Oscar favorites – Fiennes plus Adrien Brody (“The Brutalist”), Timothee Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”), Daniel Craig (“Queer”) and Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”) – plus Hugh Grant for “heretics.”

In the “Best Actress” category Nicole Kidman (“Babygirl”), Saoirse Ronan (“The Outrun”) and Amy Adams (“Nightbitch”) were snubbed. This field of six includes Erivo, Karla Sofia Gascon (“Emilia Perez”), Marianne Jean Baptiste (“Hard Truths”) Angelina Jolie (“Mary”), Mikey Madison (“Anora”) and Demi Moore (“The Substance”).

Best supporting actor was Chalk, with Yura Borisov (“Anora”), Kieran Culkin (“A real pain”), Clarence Maclin (“Sing Sing”), Edward Norton (“A Complete Unknown”), Guy Pearce (“The Brutalist”) and Denzel Washington (“Gladiator II”) receives nominations. The Oscars are widely expected to nominate five of these six actors.

However, the Best Supporting Actress competition remains the most unpredictable race of the year. The Critics Choice Awards nominated both Danielle Deadwyler (“The Piano Lesson”) and Aunjanue Ellis Taylor (“Nickel Boys”), days after the Golden Globes snubbed every actress. The other four nominees included Globe nominees Grande, Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”), Isabella Rossellini (“Conclave”) and Zoe Saldana (“Emilia Perez”). There were two notable absences here Felicity Jones for “The Brutalist,” which is widely expected to receive an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress, according to ratings, and Selena Gomez for “Emilia Perez”. Other snubs include Ronan for “Blitz” and Monica Barbara for “A Complete Unknown.”

“This year has brought us an incredible wealth of stories and performances, resulting in an incredibly tight nomination race,” said CCA CEO Joey Berlin. “We are honored to celebrate our groundbreaking 30th anniversary of the Critics Choice Awards with this talented group of nominees and are excited to bring viewers our best show yet.” Knowing how close the nominations vote is “We are expecting an exciting evening full of drama on January 12th.”

The 2025 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2025, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast this year on E! broadcast. Network. Chelsea handlers is the host.

The CCA was founded 28 years ago and is “today the largest critics organization in the United States and Canada with more than 580 members.”

Last year, the group hugged “Barbie” with both hands and gave her this Greta Gerwig Film a record total of 18 nominations. But when it came time to pick the winners, the Critics Choice Association chose the expected Oscar favorite “Oppenheimer.” Christopher NolanThe eventual Best Picture Oscar winner won eight Critics Choice Association awards this year, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor. Robert Downey Jr.. While Cillian Murphy He won Best Actor at the Oscars, but lost at the CCAs Paul Giamatti (“The Leftovers”). Other acting awards that year included eventual Oscar winners Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”) and Emma Stone (“Poor Things”).
