Fantasy Football Start em, Sit em: Jared Goff, Keenan Allen, Caleb Williams (Week 13)

Start or set? Starting or seating decisions in fantasy football can be agonizing. Fantasy Football Start em, Sit em Lineup Tip: Week 13

Jared Goff (QB)

Goff is the QB13 in fantasy points per game with three QB1 appearances this year. On a dropback basis he was amazing. Among the 40 qualifying quarterbacks, he ranks first in yards per attempt, second in passer rating and fifth in CPOE and highest throwing accuracy. Goff should tear the Bears’ secondary in half this week. Since Week 7, the Bears have allowed the ninth-most passing yards per game, the most yards per attempt, and the sixth-most CPOE. They had tremendous difficulty defending deep passes during this stretch, producing the third-highest number of passing yards, seventh-highest passer rating and ninth-highest adjusted completion percentage per game.

Caleb Williams (QB)

Over the last two weeks, Williams has played much better with Thomas Brown at the helm. Among 33 qualifying quarterbacks, he ranked 11th in passing yards per game and CPOE, 19th in yards per attempt, 20th in aDOT and sixth in hero throw rate. Brown tried to keep things simple for Williams, as he had the third-highest throw rate on the first read. While Williams regained use of his legs in Week 12 (six carries and 33 rushing yards), he only had one scheduled run (four in Week 11). Williams tore up the Vikings last week (QB4), so I won’t bet against him doing the same this week against Detroit. However, it will be a tough test. Since Week 7, Detroit has allowed the 11th-fewest yards per attempt, the 7th-fewest CPOE and the 3rd-fewest passing touchdowns. Williams should have time to read the field. Since Week 11, Detroit had the 11th slowest time to pressure and sixth slowest pressure rate despite the help of Za’Darius Smith.

Keenan Allen (WR)

Allen is coming off a great game and is poised for another standout day in Week 13. Last week he had a 31.3% target share with nine grabs, 86 receiving yards and a 36 first read percentage, 8%. Since Week 11, Allen leads the team with a 29.1% target percentage and a 33.8% first read percentage, while also having a 1.61 YPRR and an end zone target. Detroit has the eighth highest single-high rate (56%). It’s an incredibly small sample, but in the last two games against single-high, Allen led the team with a TPRR of 28% and a first read percentage of 34.5% while ranking second with a 2.22 YPRR took place. Detroit has bled production at slot receiver all year, giving the position the most receiver yards and the fourth-most fantasy points per game.
