Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are on cloud nine!

After announcing their engagement on Wednesday, December 11, a source confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE that Blanco proposed earlier in the day.

Gomez, 32, showed off her stunning marquise engagement ring on Instagram, captioning a series of photos, “Eternity begins now.”

The Emilia Perez star – who just received two Golden Globe nominations earlier this week – received an outpouring of support from A-listers in her comments section. “Treasure!! “Congratulations, sweet mama!” wrote Jennifer Aniston. Longtime BFF Taylor Swift joked, “Yeah, I’ll be the flower girl.”

Gomez and Blanco, 36, first met years ago and collaborated with Tainy and J Balvin on their 2019 single “I Can’t Get Enough.”

Blanco opened up about his relationship to PEOPLE in last month’s Sexiest Man Alive issue, saying he found a “true best friend” in Gomez.

The Rare Beauty founder cheered Blanco on CBS Sunday Morning that she is “extremely proud” to have someone at her side who “cares about every little detail of who I am.”
