Detroit Lions Jameson Williams reacts to Joe Burrow being robbed

A worrying trend has emerged in the world of professional sports as reports of break-ins into the homes of elite athletes have recently emerged.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was the latest victim when his home was broken into while his team was playing in Dallas on Monday. Other casualties across the league include Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams said players have been informed and are focused on staying safe.

“Yeah, I think our guy sent us a message: ‘Just be safe, it’s that time of year,'” Williams said. “Just be safe and take care of yourself.”

According to the New York Times, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating whether or not these break-ins are part of a targeted attack. The NFL reportedly sent out a memo on November 20th stating that these game day attacks targeted professional athletes.

Williams spoke Thursday about the concerning nature of recent events and urged caution among athletes.

“Yeah, you know, because some people just don’t have any respect or anything like that for people who do something for their city,” Williams explained. “It’s kind of strange, so you always have to be aware of your surroundings and stay safe at all times.”

Burrow spoke out about the situation on Wednesday, saying his privacy had been violated by the incident.

“Obviously everyone heard what happened. I feel like my privacy has been violated in more ways than one. And there’s already a lot more than I want out there and want to share, so that’s all I can say. “Say something about that,” Burrow told local reporters. “We live a public life, and what I like least about it is the lack of privacy. And that’s been difficult for me throughout my career. I’m still learning. But I understand that it’s the life we choose easier to deal with.

Relationship with Dave Fipp

Williams’ natural enthusiasm and love of the game has endeared him to his teammates and coaching staff. In particular, he has developed a good relationship with special teams coordinator Dave Fipp.

On Thursday, Fipp explained that his affinity for Williams came from watching the young player mature and find his footing amid the ups and downs he’s experienced since entering the league.

“All I know is that Jamo is a guy who played at Alabama, and he gave himself up for the good of the team by playing on special teams even though he probably didn’t have to. “I know that’s a lot (former Alabama head coach) Nick Saban does too and that’s how they do it there,” Fipp said. “But the guy is a competitor and he loves to play. He’s not unlike any of us, or at least like me. He’s had his ups and downs and probably gone in the wrong direction, and I think you want those guys to end up. Find their way, grow up and use this game as a way to get to a place to get to places they probably never would have been.

Fipp appreciates the Alabama product’s passion for the game, which is regularly expressed by the coaches at practice and in games.

“For me, it was really just the process of watching him mature and grow and learn to learn from his mistakes,” Fipp said. “But this game really gave him the opportunity to do that and yeah, I love the way he plays the game, I love what the game means to him, he showed that by the way he played in the Training is going on, how fast he trains, how fast he plays in a game, the fact that he wants to get back there and return punts. So I would say that’s kind of a relationship with him.”

Alabama fails to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff

Williams said his alma mater, Alabama, should be on the field for the College Football Playoff despite its 9-3 record. The Crimson Tide have a win over No. 2 Georgia on their resume, but Williams felt their good schedule should have earned them a bid.

“I don’t really want to talk about it. But we should be in the playoffs. “We beat the teams that are in the playoffs, so why aren’t we in the playoffs,” Williams said. “But it’s a bit like the NFL: Win your division and get into the playoffs. We’ll be back next year, we won’t stumble too much.”

On the topic of college football, Williams also discussed the impact of adding talented five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood to Michigan football. Williams has watched the talented incoming freshman and believes he will be a good fit for the Wolverines.

“I think he’s a really good boy. I think I saw him last year when he played against Cass Tech. I watched the game, I think it was the game you could imagine,” Williams explained. “Really great passer. I love his playing. He’s from Detroit. It’s hard to play in Detroit. I didn’t get a chance to see it this year, but I did check out the movie, his stuff on Instagram, and the highlights. He’s a great addition to the offense, and I feel like he can take them far.”
